Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify challenges in measuring culturally specific forms of IPV and strategies for addressing these challenges.
  2. Describe a range of methods that may be used to develop, adapt and test effective IPV prevention interventions for different populations.
  3. Specify future priorities for advancing global epidemiological, intervention and implementation research on IPV.

Description:
This symposium aims to present methodological conundrums in conducting global epidemiological and intervention research on IPV using case studies from the Middle East, South Asia, and Central Asia. This symposium will discuss challenges in using standardized instruments to assess culturally specific forms of IPV and in estimating the prevalence of IPV. The three presentations and moderated discussion will focus on identifying gaps in epidemiological, intervention and implementation research on IPV and priorities for a future global GBV research agenda.
