  1. Understand the context and progression of the movement’s recent surge in activism around the issue and how it can continue to be cultivated.
  2. Identify their own role in the movement for survivor-centered and trauma-informed responses to sexual violence on college campuses as well as understand and anticipate current and upcoming policy on sexual violence on college campuses.
  3. Discuss the role of health care providers in fostering safety and self-determination for survivors on college campuses.

Description:
From the pages of the New York Times to our Twitter feeds, every month we see another story of a student activist leading the movement to change U.S. colleges’ and universities’ responses to sexual violence. While this has always been a serious issue, why has it just recently gained traction in the public view? How can we keep the momentum going so that all higher education institutions do the necessary work to change social norms as well as implement trauma-informed and survivor-centered policies? In this plenary, campus change makers come together to discuss the evolution of this movement and what the best practices and next steps are for all of us – university employees, students, alumni, parents, and general public – in bringing about lasting improvements.
