  1. Describe key determinants for human trafficking as well as common presentations and strategies for identification and response within the healthcare setting.
  2. Describe the major initiatives of the MGH Human Trafficking Initiative (HTI) and explain how to access HTI’s programs and educational offerings.
  3. Identify strategies and opportunities for research, leadership, and self-directed learning.

Description:
This Symposium will introduce the MGH Human Trafficking Initiative; describe its history, recent initiatives in research, education, practice, and policy; and provide a platform for discussion about controversies, challenges, and opportunities in this emerging field of healthcare delivery. Brief didactic presentation and small group discussion will enable participants to gain awareness about human trafficking as a healthcare issue; discuss challenges, opportunities and strategies needed to advance the field; and learn how to pursue avenues for self-directed learning, scholarship, and leadership.
