Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Define reproductive coercion (RC) and discuss its prevalence.
  2. Identify risk factors for RC and its association with intimate partner violence (IPV).
  3. screen patients for RC and offer interventions
Description:
Reproductive coercion (RC) is male behavior to control contraception and pregnancy outcomes of female partners. Healthcare providers are well-placed to identify RC and lessen its impact on women. In this session we will discuss our research on RC’s prevalence in a general obstetrics and gynecology setting and its association with IPV, review clinical guidelines on screening for RC, and offer strategies to enable providers to improve care of women experiencing RC.
