Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report
Learning Objectives:
- Define reproductive coercion (RC) and discuss its prevalence.
- Identify risk factors for RC and its association with intimate partner violence (IPV).
- screen patients for RC and offer interventions
Reproductive coercion (RC) is male behavior to control contraception and pregnancy outcomes of female partners. Healthcare providers are well-placed to identify RC and lessen its impact on women. In this session we will discuss our research on RC’s prevalence in a general obstetrics and gynecology setting and its association with IPV, review clinical guidelines on screening for RC, and offer strategies to enable providers to improve care of women experiencing RC.
