Scientific Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand the associations between partner violence and pregnancy termination.
  2. Use research to develop reproductive health screening and risk reduction related to partner violence and reproductive control.
Description:
We present findings from a study of over 13,000 diverse women receiving reproductive health care services across three urban health centers. Women reporting intimate partner violence (IPV) were compared to those reporting no current or past IPV for differences in elective and spontaneous pregnancy termination (i.e., abortion and miscarriage). Findings support screening for the influence of partner violence on reproductive health and related safety planning.
