Learning Objectives:
- Understand innovative methods for assessing sexual identity among LGBTQSA youth.
- Understand innovative promising practice methods for working with homeless and near homeless LGBTQSA youth.
- Understand LGBTQSA youths' experiences of housing stability, mental health, trauma, harassment and victimization and other behaviors at program entry and how these variables change following participation in the iTEAM program.
This presentation details an innovative program, “My” Treatment Empowerment for Adolescents on the Move (iTEAM); a program for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight allied (LGBTQSA) homeless or near homeless youth ages 15 to 23 years. iTEAM’s system of care approach includes a safe, educational, and therapeutic environment that incorporates evidence-based practices modified to meet the needs of LGBTQSA youth. A description of the iTEAM’s program, innovative gender identity assessments, and baseline and 6-month outcome data will be presented.
