Presentation Format:
Scientific Program Report
Learning Objectives:
- Describe types and reasons for adaptations made by violence prevention practitioners.
- Identify practitioner characteristics that influence adaptation and EBI implementation more broadly.
- Describe communication channels for sharing implementation practices among stakeholders and uses for implementation data.
With recent emphasis on evidence-based interventions (EBIs) in violence prevention, practitioners face decisions about how to effectively implement EBIs in real-world contexts. We will describe findings from a qualitative study of practitioners, organizational and community leaders, technical assistance providers, funders and developers that examined: 1) practitioner characteristics that influence EBI implementation and adaption; 2) adaptation types and reasons; 3) practitioners’ communication with other stakeholders about their implementation practices, and 4) how stakeholders use implementation data for program development and improvement.
