Presentation Format:
Scientific Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe types and reasons for adaptations made by violence prevention practitioners.
  2. Identify practitioner characteristics that influence adaptation and EBI implementation more broadly.
  3. Describe communication channels for sharing implementation practices among stakeholders and uses for implementation data.
Description:
With recent emphasis on evidence-based interventions (EBIs) in violence prevention, practitioners face decisions about how to effectively implement EBIs in real-world contexts. We will describe findings from a qualitative study of practitioners, organizational and community leaders, technical assistance providers, funders and developers that examined: 1) practitioner characteristics that influence EBI implementation and adaption; 2) adaptation types and reasons; 3) practitioners’ communication with other stakeholders about their implementation practices, and 4) how stakeholders use implementation data for program development and improvement.
