Learning Objectives:
  1. Summarize the estimated proportion of IPV screening by type of healthcare practice.
  2. Recognize the procedural characteristics used by different types of healthcare practices for IPV screening.
  3. Identify differences in rates and procedures for IPV screening by healthcare facility characteristics.
Description:
This study examines the screening policies and practices for intimate partner violence (IPV) among a random sample of healthcare agencies in Miami-Dade County, including: primary care, obstetrics/gynecology, emergency, behavioral health, and pediatrics. Results presented include the proportion of agencies that report routine screening of IPV; procedural characteristics including the timing of screening, the screening tool used, clinician/staff training, and inclusion of response protocols; and differences in rates of screening and procedural characteristics by healthcare setting, size, location, and patient population.
