Learning Objectives:
  1. have an improved understanding of the experience of women leaving a life of trafficking.
  2. gain insight into the specific challenges faced in the months surrounding the decision to leave the life of trafficking.
  3. have an improved knowledge of the challenges faces by women after they transition to a main-stream existence.
Description:
No longer a human rights violation limited to developing countries, human trafficking occurs in rural communities and large cities in the United States of America. Currently, limited research is available demonstrating the health impact of trafficking from the perspective of persons involved. A study was conducted to explore the experience of leaving a life of trafficking, gain insight into the challenges faced in the months surrounding the decision, and improve the general understanding of the needs of those formerly trafficked.
