Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe key dynamics of elder abuse, including domestic violence and sexual assault in later life.
  2. List practical strategies to address the health and safety needs of older victims.

Description:
Approximately 10,000 people turn 65 every day. Reports of elder abuse are increasing. Many older victims seek out health care providers on a regular basis to deal with age related illness, physical injuries due to the abuse, or depression or other mental health issues that may be directly related to the abuse. This interactive workshop will focus on the dynamics of abuse in later life and practical strategies to address the health and safety needs of older victims.
