Learning Objectives:
  1. Gain familiarity with NCTSN resources for children and parents affected by domestic violence.
  2. Identify specific strategies to help parents support their children who are affected by domestic violence.
  3. Learn innovative approaches to collaborating with advocates and parents to help support and promote resiliency for children affected by domestic violence.

Description:
Parenting children affected by domestic violence is often a challenge. Parents are uncertain about how to talk to their children about the violence or manage their challenging behaviors. This interactive workshop features downloadable resources created by the Domestic Violence Workgroup of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, and developed for advocates, parents and health providers. We will explore ways that these resources can be used to help parents manage their children’s reactions and give them tools to support their children.
