Presentation Format:
Scientific Program Report
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the benefits and challenges of using arts-based research methods with marginalized young people.
- Have gained evidence-informed knowledge on the types of violence homeless and street-involved youth experience, and the resulting health outcomes.
- Have a concrete set of policy and service provision recommendations related to homeless and street-involved youth.
Homeless and street-involved youth experience many forms of violence on the street, including physical, sexual, and structural harms. This report will examine the intersections of violence in their lives, and the health-based consequences for this population of young people. Researchers will discuss these issues through the findings of the project, “Promoting Health through Collaborative Engagement with Youth in Canada.” The use of arts-based methods allowed researchers to engage these young people in conversations around violence and health.
