Learning Objectives:
  1. Be able to identify and discuss the range of issues affecting women veterans and their health and mental health.
  2. Be able to determine how a history of trauma intersects with trauma experienced in the military, including combat exposure.
  3. Be able to identify how their organization/program can serve women veterans more sensitively and effectively using a trauma-informed approach to services.
Description:
The session will have a didactic portion to provide an overview of the issues facing women veterans and a trauma-informed approach to serving women vetearns. Case examples will be used throughout the presentation combined with small and large group interactive exercises. Information about resources for women veterans will be provided.
