Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand how to intervene with men regarding sexual and reproductive health and gender equity promotion.
  2. Understand how to recruit and retain men in interventions focused on sexual and reproductive health and gender equity.
  3. Understand how to measure IPV outcomes via single sex or dyadic data as part of an outcome evaluation for male engagement focused interventions.
Description:
This presentation will describe two innovative male-centered interventions designed to promote gender equity and sexual and reproductive health (SRH), the CHARM program in rural India and the MEN Count Intervention in the urban United States. Both multi-session interventions were delivered by men, health providers in India and peers in the US, and demonstrated good program retention and engagement. Men can be recruited and retained in integrated gender equity and SRH promotion interventions, and these may reduce risk for IPV perpetration.
