Presentation Format:
Scientific Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Learn from the lived experiences of traumatic brain injury and intimate partner violence so to shape policy and practice strategies.
  2. Learn evidence-based strategies that incorporate survivors to address health and mental health impairments.
Description:
Taken together, the quantitative and qualitative results from this mix-method study, created a Grounded Theory model that includes abused women’s subjective experiences with intimate partner violence and probable traumatic brain injury with differing post concussive symptoms. The themes that emerged from the research provide insight for health care policies, professionals, and advocates on how to respond to and refer survivors for further services.
