- Participants in attendance will understand the continuum of traditional and non-traditional contextual factors that are deemed critical when working with Latino communities.
- Participants in attendance will have an understanding of the Promotora model and why it is a promising strategy for mobilizing Latino communities.
This session explores a culturally based intervention to mobilize communities by implementing the Promotora model as a vehicle to disseminating information and building awareness of violence against women. The Promotora Model is guided by the philosophy that violence must be addressed in the context of a women’s life, her family and her community. The workshop will describe a model of intervention that addresses the continuum of traditional and non-traditional contextual factors that are deemed critical when working with Latino communities.
