Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Be able to define reproductive coercion as a function of intimate partner violence.
  2. Be able to identify two tools providers can use to screen for and intervene in cases of intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion.
Description:
Only about 10% of health care providers routinely screen for intimate partner violence (IPV). Project Connect is a national initiative to change how adolescent health, reproductive health, and home visiting programs identify and respond to IPV. Semi-structured focus groups and individual interviews were conducted with trained providers. Providers reported seeing value in training and understanding the need to screen and intervene, but felt there was not enough detail provided or that tools were not flexible enough for their practice area.
