Learning Objectives:
  1. understand the process San Francisco went through to address gaps in responding to domestic violence.
  2. recognize challenges in implementing change in multi-system government agencies responding to domestic violence.
Description:
National and California statewide rates of female homicides due to domestic violence hover around 40%. From May 2010- January 2014, San Francisco was able to go 44 months without a domestic violence homicide. San Francisco achieved this record through its Justice and Courage Oversight Panel, which worked for 12 years to investigate and respond to gaps in the criminal justice system response to domestic violence in San Francisco. Learn about how such a project might work in your community.
