Learning Objectives:
  1. Summarize the latest evidence regarding the neurobiology of resilience in survivors of violence and describe the concept of resilience in the biopsychosocial sphere, with an ecological framework
  2. Identify facilitators for, and barriers to, fostering resilience in our patients and in providers
  3. Demonstrate strategies that foster resilience in patients and health care professionals

Description:
Addressing the needs of survivors of intimate partner violence in clinic can present personal and practice challenges for the health care professional. A brief didactic session, problem-based learning, and role-play will be used to elucidate the concept of resilience among survivors of violence and the clinicians who treat them. Participants will gain knowledge about and skill in the use of strategies that foster resilience in both our patients and ourselves.
