Learning Objectives:
- Highlight the gap in curricula regarding how violence is a contributor to poor health outcomes
- Discuss the need to have a multidisciplinary approach to improve health outcomes for those living with chronic violence
- Identify strategies for developing a campus inter-disciplinary approach to improving the system response for victims/survivors/clients/patients
This program will explore an inter-disciplinary campus collaborative including social work, dental medicine, law, medicine, nursing and podiatry schools to frame understanding and embed issues of sexual assault and domestic violence in curricula, through campus and community partnerships at Fairview Hospitals SANE Unit, Case Western Reserve University, and the Cuyahoga County SART in Cleveland, Ohio. The program will examine curriculum components and implementation strategies to train future providers, improve the healthcare, social and criminal justice system for victims/survivors/clients/patients.
