Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the intersections of state domestic violence and health care laws and regulations and both the negative and positive impact these laws can have on victims of domestic violence and health care providers
- Recognize the steps needed to amend or create state laws or regulations that are more beneficial to victims of domestic violence and health care providers
Health care providers and domestic violence advocates have made great strides in identifying and providing assistance to victims of domestic violence in health care settings. Unfortunately, there is often confusion and a lack of knowledge about state laws/regulations that may negatively and positively impact these efforts. This presentation will provide information about the intersection of these laws and regulations, and guidance on assessing the need to amend or create laws and regulations that better serve victims and healthcare providers.
