Description:
The Victim Assistance and Counseling Services Program of Metropolitan Hospital Center provides two groups for domestic violence survivors, "Breaking Free" and "Goal Sisters". Our method to group counseling includes a two-tiered approach to help survivors progress from powerlessness to self-efficacy. This report will explore current literature on group work with domestic violence survivors; discuss the therapeutic merits of our approach to intervening with abuse victims;and highlight the important role of the group worker in the healing process for survivors.
