- 1) Understand the critical role healthcare providers play in any system or network devoted to addressing domestic abuse.
- 2) Identify the components (participants and principles) of a successful Domestic Violence Multi-Disciplinary team.
- 3) Implement a multi-disciplinary team approach to addressing domestic violence in communities where it might be a beneficial and appropriate model.
The Southwest Institute for Research on Women has partnered with the Pima County Attorney’s Office to conduct a county-wide assessment of services that impact domestic abuse survivor safety. We have discovered that healthcare is an area that has the potential to make a significant impact against domestic abuse. This innovative program report will describe our county wide approach to addressing domestic abuse, new Arizona legislation and its potential impact on domestic abuse, and the integral role of healthcare providers.
