  1. Identify the challenges of conducting a large trial in primary care
  2. Describe the outcomes from a large intervention trial in general practice
  3. Discuss methodological issues of pragmatic trials in primary care
Description:
Weave is a large general practice-based trial, testing the effect of screening and intervention for abused women on safety, quality of life and health. A cluster RCT involving 55 GPs. 20,100 women (16-50 years) in the last year were screened for fear of partner/ex-partner. GPs were randomly assigned to either basic education/usual care or to a 8-hour training program and women were offered counseling. 731/5742 respondents were afraid of partner/ex-partner; 272/388 women enrolled. The twelve month outcomes will be presented.
