Learning Objectives:
  1. Be familiarized with challenges faced when providing crisis intervention to survivors of intimate partner violence and their minor children in an acute hospital setting.
  2. Be familiarized with a transdisciplinary team interventive approach with survivors of intimate partner violence and their minor children.
Description:
To date social workers have been largely on the fore front of, and frequently solely responsible for interventions provided with survivors of intimate partner violence in an acute hospital setting, however, it has become evident that a holistic integrated coordinated approach is necessary to enhance the client system's safety and to ensure that their best interests are identified and enhanced. A transdisciplinary team provides collaborative interventions that consider the patient's multifaceted needs and realities.
