Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the intersections of family, partner, and community violence on pathways into gangs for young women
  2. Identify ways in which such exposures to violence may directly and indirectly contribute to poor reproductive health outcomes
Description:
This study explores the relationship between gang involvement and reproductive health, and the pathways through which childhood, family, and relationship violence exposure may lead to unintended pregnancy. Interviews of twenty young adult Latina females with known gang involvement in Los Angeles County were audiotaped, transcribed, and coded for key themes related to violence exposure and reproductive health.
