Learning Objectives:
  1. Explore the benefits of an interdisciplinary intervention model designed to increase safety for survivors and their children while addressing trauma symptoms for both caregivers and children. Emphasis will be on the efficacy of combining areas of expertise
  2. Recognize the challenges in creating inter disciplinary, interagency client service programs, where there are different professional roles, responsibilities and cultures
  3. Assess and address those challenges; the need to identify and select potential partners; the importance of cross training; the importance of case review meetings to build relationsips; the need for staff involvement in program creation and in program evaluation and the need for institutional commitment
Description:
Working across disciplines is not only possible, but can increase the benefit to survivors. Our Program in its' 8th year was created to provide an intervention for families impacted by domestic violence, bringing trauma informed, hospital based Psychotherapists together with advocates from a comphrehensive comunity based D.V. Program. The aim of the report is to outline the structure and strategies that make an inter-agency program with unique, yet complimentary approaches, a dynamic community resource.
