Learning Objectives:
  1. Be aware of the prevalence and risk of domestic violence victimisation amongst adults with mental disorder.
  2. Understand the limitations of the current evidence base on mental disorder and domestic violence victimisation and identify future research priorities.
  3. Be able to identify the policy and practical implications of the intersection of mental disorder and domestic violence victimisation.
Description:
Domestic violence may lead to, or exacerbate, mental disorder and people with mental disorders may be at greater risk of victimisation. We present a systematic review of the prevalence and relative risk of domestic violence victimisation amongst people with mental disorders, discuss the methodological quality of studies and identify future research priorities in this area.
