Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand common barriers to implementing routine IPV screening in the pediatric setting and strategies to overcome these barriers
  2. Recognize how to use a QI tool to evaluate their current clinical IPV practices and to design a strategic plan based on their clinic’s strengths and needs
  3. Identify a multi-faceted approach to improving screening and response to IPV in their own clinical settings
Description:
The IPV Pediatric Champions Project used innovative methods to improve ability of three pediatrics/obstetrics sites in the Philadelphia area to: 1) understand the health impact of child IPV exposure; 2) develop comprehensive protocols to screen caregivers for IPV exposure; and 3) connect with community resources to respond to affirmative responses. A quality improvement tool for pediatric/obstetrics practices was designed to assist clinical practices in developing a strategic plan for IPV screening and response.
