Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify older adults experiencing late life abuse
  2. Integrate information about functional capacity into an overall abuse assessment
  3. Utilize a team approach in the assessment and intervention of abuse.

Description:
This workshop, taught by a multidisciplinary team, will utilize a range of teaching methods (e.g. didactic presentation, case discussion, DVD) to help participants: 1) understand aging and late life abuse, including the impact of ageism on the victim and responders; 2) identify abuse (in person's home, office visit, or in-patient setting); 3) interview victims, family members and/or caregivers; 4) document in the case record; and 5) develop response strategies to use after a case is identified and assessed.
