Learning Objectives:
  1. Be able to describe the broader impact of intimate partner violence beyond individual health.
  2. be able to identify and approach potential partners in the community to build a collaborative effort in addressing intimate partner violence.
  3. be able to identify opportunities, successes and challenges when supplementing partners’ existing curriculum with teen dating violence messages/lessons.
Description:
This symposium demonstrates techniques audience members can adapt when identifying, approaching and working with community partners to influence teen dating violence prevention messages throughout the community. Recognizing that achieving long-term objectives is difficult, the workshop describes how to create a sustained presence by partnering with a diverse group of local organizations (health systems, public health programs, advocacy/awareness groups, and the public school system), adapting the message for their curricula and using older peer influencers.
