Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize how fathers experience prenatal ultrasound, and fathers’ views on pregnancy, support for their pregnant partner, and their interactions with healthcare providers when accompanying their partner to a prenatal ultrasound
  2. Discover the potential of preventive intervention with expectant fathers for gains in reduction of intimate partner violence and child maltreatment, and increase in maternal and child health
Description:
In this session we will present findings from a study that examined prenatal ultrasound as an emergent setting for paternal involvement and a window of opportunity to engage expectant fathers, and discuss the potential of preventive intervention with expectant fathers for gains in reduction of intimate partner violence and child maltreatment, and increase in maternal and child health.
