Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

  1. Describe the utility of theater as prevention/educational tool
  2. Discover the application of audience response system to sociocultural tailoring of interventions
Description:
This report illustrates the use of theater and audience response system as innovative tools for sociocultural tailoring of intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention programs. We created and evaluated PeerFormances, a teen dating violence prevention program for local Asian communities, using Form Theater, assessment of audience response, and involvement of peer educators. Forum Theater and audience response systems provide a unique opportunity to address a major gap in research—examination of effective and socioculturally relevant prevention intervention approaches.
