Presentation Format:
Innovative/Promising Practice Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Formulate how IPV screening can be integrated into specialty care, and the potential for substantial improvement in rates of IPV detection and treatment
  2. Recognize how CD counselors can be trained to embrace and effectively integrate an emphasis upon IPV in planning and monitoring CD services
Description:
This report will discuss the operational lessons and results from the implementation of intimate personal violence (IPV) screening and treatment with clients that present for treatment in Kaiser Permanente’s Southern California CD programs. We will discuss Kaiser’s program for addressing family violence as a key performance goal for CD treatment, integrating IPV assessment into its outcomes management system (Polaris-CD) to support clinicians in planning and monitoring chemical dependency outcomes.
