Description:
This poster presents a baseline assessment of the screening, response, and staff training procedures being utilized in response to domestic violence within a freestanding Midwestern pediatric hospital. While most providers agreed that domestic violence is an issue that should be addressed within pediatric healthcare settings, many provider and institutional barriers were identified. Results underscore the need for healthcare institutions to foster among their providers a culture that emphasizes the importance of screening for and intervening in domestic violence.
