Presentation Format:
Scientific Program Report

Learning Objectives:
  1. Examine indicative prevalence of experience and perpetration of domestic violence in a sample of men attending UK primary care clinics
  2. Identify how comfortable men would feel about being routinely asked about domestic violence by primary care practitioners
  3. Compare comparable data on domestic violence relating to men and women in primary care clinics
Description:
Men and women report domestic violence in national prevalence surveys, with incidence, severity and impact at lower rates for men but there is no UK prevalence data of domestic violence in male clinical samples. In a pilot scheme to introduce domestic violence enquiry in primary care, items to measure prevalence of domestic violence victimization and perpetration were included in a patient survey aimed at both men and women and questions about willingness to be asked about domestic violence by clinicians.
