Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize that the health implications of IPV continue long after the violence ends.
  2. Identify ways to improve engagement and adherence of IPV survivors in treatment.
  3. 3. Develop new approaches to treating IPV survivors to improve symptoms related to complex co-occurring mental and physical health concerns.
Description:
We conducted a mixed method study (n = 31) about the physical and mental health treatment needs and barriers of intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors. Survivors described complex health concerns exacerbated by barriers to obtaining adequate treatment. We are now developing an IPV-informed and sensitive intervention specifically for IPV survivors. Our objective is to establish an intervention which improves engagement and adherence, reduces acute visits, and improves outcomes related to coping, symptom management, function, and mood.
